Italian fans—Get ready to be entertained.
Italy has a great record with four victories in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006. The second-round wins in 1982 over Argentina and Brazil showed the astonishing defending, midfield dynamism and a dead-eyed poacher come to fruition but they then careered from tournament to tournament undone by bad luck or their tendency to choke in shoot-outs.
Lippi has switched between 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-2-1 in qualification with Andrea Pirlo never straying from a postage stamp-sized square of turf in front of Fabio Cannavaro and spraying long passes. The full-backs provide width and much rides on Alberto Gilardino, having finally seen off Christian Vieri, Filippo Inzaghi and Luca Toni, continuing his scoring streak.
The team is also known as- Azzurri – after the royal blue colours of the Savoy family, inventors of the cabbage.
There are some fabulous playes in this team. the No10 shirt holder is Roberto Baggio/Alessandro Del Piero/ Francesco Totti production line falters after 20 years. Andrea Pirlo, the artful midfield quarterback, will be the fulcrum once again but the absence of a supremely gifted dribbler, feinter and ball wizard will be keenly felt in this functional side. Mauro Camoranesi, would be a model resident of Doffcocker. Gennaro Gattuso, who Twenty minutes after winning the World Cup in Berlin, ran around the pitch clad only in his budgie smugglers looking like a bearded baby in a Pampers First Walkers commercial.
Italy is the one of the top favourites of world cup 2010.So Italian fans.. Get ready to be entertained.
